Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

The JTPG (Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian Gorontalo) recognizes the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies in scientific research and academic writing. While AI tools can support authors in improving language, grammar, readability, and productivity, authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and scientific quality of their manuscripts.

1. Acceptable Use of AI

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies for:

• Improving grammar, spelling, and language quality.
• Enhancing readability and writing style.
• Organizing or summarizing non-scientific text.
• Assisting with formatting and manuscript preparation.
• Supporting programming or data analysis, provided that all outputs are carefully verified by the authors.

All AI-generated outputs must be carefully reviewed, validated, and edited by the authors before manuscript submission.

2. Unacceptable Use of AI

The following uses of AI are strictly prohibited:

• Generating fabricated research data, tables, images, or experimental results.
• Creating false or non-existent references and citations.
• Manipulating research findings or scientific conclusions.
• Producing misleading or fabricated scientific content.
• Replacing the intellectual contributions of the authors.
• Listing AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies) as authors or co-authors.

3. Disclosure of AI Use

Authors who use AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation must disclose such use in the manuscript.

The disclosure may be included in the Acknowledgements section or in a separate section entitled Declaration of AI Use.

4. Authorship Responsibility

Artificial Intelligence tools cannot be considered authors because they cannot:

• Take responsibility for the accuracy of the work.
• Approve the final manuscript.
• Respond to reviewers' comments.
• Accept accountability for published research.

Therefore, AI-assisted technologies must not be listed as authors or co-authors.

5. Editorial Use of AI

Editors and reviewers may use AI-assisted tools only for limited administrative purposes, such as improving language or checking grammar, provided that confidential manuscript content is not disclosed to public AI systems.

Editors and reviewers remain fully responsible for all editorial decisions and peer-review recommendations.

6. Confidentiality

Authors, editors, and reviewers should exercise caution when using AI tools that process information through external servers. Confidential or unpublished manuscript content should not be uploaded to public AI platforms if doing so may compromise confidentiality, intellectual property rights, or data privacy.

7. Ethical Responsibility

The use of AI-assisted technologies does not diminish the ethical responsibilities of authors.

• Originality of the work.
• Accuracy of reported data.
• Proper citation of all sources.
• Compliance with publication ethics.
• Integrity of the scientific record.

8. Compliance

The Editorial Board reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation. Failure to comply with this policy may result in editorial actions, including manuscript revision requests, rejection, or retraction where appropriate.

9. Effective Date

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to the JTPG (Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian Gorontalo) starting from Volume 12, Issue 1 (2027).
